“Lou and Sophie in the River of Adventures” is an interactive pop-up book designed to educate and inspire young readers. It follows the journey of Lou, a curious young salmon, and his friend Sophie, a cheerful slug, as they travel through the Rhine River on their way to the ocean. Along the way, they encounter new friends and face various environmental challenges, learning about nature, ecosystems, and the importance of protecting the environment.
The project was developed as part of an infographics class in collaboration with Marlena Sarraf and aims to combine storytelling, visual design, and educational content to foster early environmental awareness in children.
The story was written by Marlena and I, and all illustrations were hand-drawn using Procreate. The book itself is entirely handmade – hand-bound and featuring custom pop-ups crafted with scissors, a laser cutter, and various traditional pop-up techniques.
